Strengths

I Hunt Insight

Knowledge is king – it is that simple. I there are a lot of things I do not know BUT knowing where to go to find out is critical, and as it happens I am really good at it. However much time pressure is brought to bear on my working day, I always make time to feed myself with knowledge. Deriving insight from knowledge is one of the most important skills a man ITC, IIoT and IoT programme manager can possess. Mining insights and peering into nooks and crannies without losing sight of the big picture in order to identify a key insight that can transform a business is a real skill, applying it relentlessly possibly makes me a little irritating, yet effective.

Contrary

I have never believed that one should agree with another out of politeness, I consider it a disservice to all parties. I want my ideas tested and challenged so that every possible perspective is considered. As long as the argument is grounded in objective fact and it’s delivered constructively and simply as possible, then being the contrarian can be the most important role in an organization. When you work in an environment of integrity and trust it is easy to respectfully challenge other people’s thinking.

Visualiser – of Data and….

There are a lot of annoying, boring ways one can spend one’s day and I will admit, sifting through cells and cells of a spreadsheet is one way to make me run into the streets screaming (I have seen it happen). However, I do hold data in high regard and wouldn’t make a decision without it, when it is relevant to what I am doing.  Knowing how to interrogate data, turn it into a visual and find a story through it rather than be intimidated by it is the challenge. Visualisation of an abstract and illustrating it, a skill I attribute to learning isometric technical drawing at an early age.
