About Me
I have worked in technology for over 20 years and I am a passionate advocate for IoT/IIoT. Throughout my career, I’ve gained incredible experience working on large-scale, high- profile initiatives, resulting in a reputation for contagious optimism and calm yet agile determination.
I’m currently working as a freelance programme manager and consultant. My areas of expertise run the gamut; project management, programme office management and IoT consulting. I learn something new every day at Twelve Provinces, but the overarching daily revelation is that IoT is not just about technology. It’s about the immersion of technology into everyday living, it is about helping people move along the path to Industry 4 and helping them see the almost infinite ways it is going to change the way they work and live.
I am constantly developing my knowledge base. My current focus is industrial production processes and the application of IIoT (CRM-ERP-MES-SCADA-PLC/HMI-WMS-Shipping), with a secondary area of interest being LoRaWAN and other comms technologies.
I’ve had diverse roles such as senior project manager, programme manager, field service engineer, programme office manager, communications manager, even radiographer – gratefully giving me a unique perspective on how to solve varied and complex business challenges. I’ve also had the good fortune to work with many organizations such as Hewlett Packard, Electronic Data Systems, DSM, System house, AON, Aviva, Centrica and Royal Bank of Scotland.
Accustomed to being on the front lines in the fast-paced world of digital technology, I’ve refined my critical skill of translating complex, digital concepts into conversational English and from there into real, tangible projects that drive measurable results. I’m an early adopter, agile thinker and creative thought leader who embraces self-deprecating humour and yet makes sure I check my ego at the door.
I find I am most effective in building teams of diverse people, determining their particular talents and enabling them to be empowered to drive product vision and strategy. My passion for innovative technology and creative problem solving has been an asset to organizations that want to push technology boundaries or breathe new life into existing products. I thrive in agile organizations that encourage others to get excited about change and inspires them to generate new ideas that improve existing products and create the impetus for new ones.
Outside of my work, I enjoy the pursuit of experiences that allow me to exercise my creativity, explore our industrial past to see the technological solutions of their day or sail a clipper barge or Tjalken on the Zuiderzee & Wadenzee.
